Research and teaching at the Institute for Microbiology is composed of three fields: cell biologypathogenicity and biotechnology.
To study these fields we use both prokaryotic and, increasingly, eukaryotic microorganisms as model systems.
We use current projects to train students in basic research as well as the applied sciences on all levels (Bachelor, Master and PhD students).

We are happy to provide information on a number of in vivo techniques used by us, such as iCLIPRNA live imaging and the Y3H-system. For the „Ustilago research community“ we maintain a comprehensive plasmid collection. In addition we have specialised in the production of proteins that are hard to express in conventional model systems (RAB Xpress)
